Holy Cross church Shanthipura Pamboor which was established in the year 1968 will be completing 50 years during March 2018 so several projects have been planned to be executed before the Golden Jubilee. Hence construction of a new presbytery was one of the Jubilee projects which was started during June 2014 was inaugurated today 30-04-2015.
The programme started at 9:30 a.m. with blessing of the new presbytery which is named as “Holy Cross Sadana”. The presbytery was inaugurated by the first parish priest of Pamboor Parish Rev.Fr. Denis D’Souza and Mrs. Seraphine Rego mother of Rev. Fr. Paul Rego (present parish priest). And was blessed by the Bishop of Udupi Diocese Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo. A thanksgiving Eucharistic mass was celebrated by Most. Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo along with the parish priests from the neighbouring churches and guest priests and parishioners.
A small programme was organized after the mass. Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo presided over the function, V. Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro (vicar Forcane, Shirva Deanery), Mr. Vinay Kumar Sorake (minister for Urban Development), Mr. Hasanabba Sheikh(president, Shirva Grama Panchayat), Mr. Rajendra Shetty (president, Belle Gram Panchayat), Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza (Zilla Panchayat Member) were the chief guests. Rev. Fr. Paul Rego (present parish priest), Mr. Prakash Noronha (vice president of parish council), Mrs. Asuntha D’Souza (secretary of Parish Council) were present on the dais. Rev. Fr. Paul Rego welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Mabel Menezes gave a brief introduction about the former parish priests and they were felicitated for their service by the Bishop. Rev. Fr. Denis D’Souza (first parish priest of the parish), Rev. Fr. Jerome Monteiro, Rev. Fr. Herald Menezes, Rev. Fr. Joseph Machado were felicitated.
Rev. Fr. Denis D’Souza spoke on behalf of the felicitated priests and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the parishioners for their support and their love and concern that was shown to him and to other former parish priests.
Mr. Vinay Kumar Sorake promised his full support to the parish golden jubilee projects and wished success for the next upcoming projects. Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza also conveyed her wishes for the occasion.
The people who worked for building the presbytery were felicitated. The Chief architect Mr. Danny Pinto (Western Architects) was felicitated followed by the workers. Mr. Fedrick Saldanha was also felicitated for supervising the work.
Most. Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo conveyed his wishes to the parishioners and told about the importance of the presbytery and felicitated Rev. Fr. Paul Rego for the work he has done in the parish under his leadership .
Mrs. Asuntha D’Souza conveyed the vote of thanks. V. Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro led the prayers before lunch. The whole programme was compered by Mr. Vincent Alva. The programme ended at 1pm and the lunch was served.
