Pamboor or Shanthipura Church was a part of Shirva and Belle parishes.  Because of the long distance to these parishes and the crossing of the river, the people decided to have a church here and in 1965, 2.47 acres of land was bought for Rs.2,400/-  and  a  small chapel was constructed on it.  This chapel was inaugurated in December, 1966 by the Vicar Vara of Shirva, Msgr Hilary Gonsalves and it was served from Shirva.

The Bishop appointed Fr Denis D’Souza as the first parish priest of Pamboor on May 12, 1968.  An acre of land was bought and gifted by the diocese for the new church building.  An independent parish was erected on July 23, 1968.  The new church was built by Fr Denis D’Souza with the help of foreign aid through his brother Rev. Fr Valerain D’Souza.  It was blessed on May 18, 1971 by Bishop Basil D’Souza of Mangalore and Archbishop Albert D’Souza of Calcutta.  The Altar made of granite was donated by Fr Joseph Falombi of Rome.  The plan  of this church was prepared by Bishop Basil D’Souza.  The Cross kept on the Main Altar was donated by Archbishop Alphonsus Mathias of  Bangalore.  The Grotto and the entrance Arch were inaugurated on November 3, 1985.   Fr Jerome Monteiro built the belfry which was inaugurated on December 12, 1988.   Mr Francis D’Silva donated the base for the Valainkanni Statue.

Fr Denis D’Souza, the first parish priest of Pamboor also managed to get permission to start a branch post office at the school premises of the church at Shanthipura.
